Highly recommend
I think this is a very well organized and well written book to prepare you for the English section of the ACT. Often when you here the word “prep book”, you think of long, monotonous chapters and problems that you could care less doing. However, The book is broke into different lessons with review sections spread out which makes it perfect for breaking it up across a period of time. There are explanations for every question in the book that are easy to interpret and apply. Overall my understanding of ACT English has gone up exponentially and the way this book is written makes it easy to understand and follow. Would highly recommend to anyone wishing to improve their ACT score. Will update on how much my score improved after I take the ACT and get my results back.I have taken several ACTs since I used this book and I can confirm it definitely helped. The first time I took the ACT, English was my worst subject and I scored a 22. I got my results back from my most recent ACT and I scored a 35 on English with it being the easiest section by far. Highly recommend to anyone looking to improve or even solidly their knowledge of the English ACT.

BEST book to prep for ACT English
I've now helped 100s of kids study for the ACT. As an English teacher, I've also reviewed every ACT English prep book out there. This is hands down the best. Better than the one put out by the ACT. Better than any of the major test prep companies. It covers all the topics covered on the ACT, in categories, providing practice problems that mimic ACT questions but all on the same category so you can practice over and over. This is the book I use with all my ACT Prep students.

The Gold Standard for ACT English Prep
There really is nothing to say that hasn't already been said, but I also have to tip my cap to Erica Meltzer for writing a comprehensive and brilliant guide to the ACT English.I think it's really a one-two punch: she teaches the material in a clear, easy-to-understand manner, and she provides a substantial amount of practice grouped by topic. It is paramount that you practice with real ACTs, but targeted drills are also hugely beneficial. Her questions are modeled fantastically on the real thing.Yes, she does go into a lot of detail - but none of this feels like, "Oh, come on, there's no way that's going to be on there." If she ever has an aside, she makes sure to indicate whether or not it's relevant to the actual test. Virtually all of it is.I've been tutoring for over a decade, and if any student needs any extra reinforcement with English, this is immediately the guide I recommend. A very well-deserved five stars!

Just what was needed
My son raised his English score on the ACT from 30 to 33 using just the first half of this book. English was by far his lowest score, but this book covered everything he needed. If your student needs help with the English portion of the test, this is the book to buy. Highly recommended!
