DeckMate 6-in-1 Boat Tool, Includes 2 Deck Keys, Shackle Key, Zipper Pull, Screwdriver, and Hex Tool

This past summer I cruised from Belhaven NC to Okracoke Island NC. First off. Wow. What a great trip and gorgeous place to visit.We'd stopped for fuel and I noticed my 70 year old father fumbling with the deck key. Obviously I opened it and pumped the fuel, thinking to myself he's gonna drop 2-3 of these overboard everytime he fills up, or pumps the holding tank. Fast forward to December, I came across this tool and ordered it for him.On Christmas, I told him how it would open deck plates and had a zipper pull etc. He "appreciated being thought of" and I figured it would end up in a drawer then long forgotten. A few weeks later he calls me, professing the amazingness of this little tool. He can open deck plates, open and close his cockpit zippers. I'm not sure but I think he got it to pop a beer top, scramble his eggs and flip steaks on the grill. I'm not sure. :)Point is. He loves it. I'm gonna order myself one. I have a degenerative muscle disease and this year finally got to the point where I had to admit I was no longer strong enough to use the smaller two prong key to open the gas cap on our Moomba. This tool has fit my needs well. It is very sturdy, and the rubber handle still provides grip with wet hands. There are two options that fit our inboard - the standard two prong set up and the flat blade set up. Both work well for me and the handle provides enough leverage for my to turn the cap with ease. The tool also has a tip that can be used as a flat blade screw driver to turn the cap quickly. Our gas cap is on the back of the boat near the rear tow bar/handle. The tool fits in the depression of our boat nicely, but if you have a bar that is more than a couple inches out/tall then this tool would be problematic.The bright blue and red is nice in case it falls into the water (because kids never do that!!!!). The multi-function aspect of the tool has come in handy for other things as well. It is really nice to not have to worry about making sure there is someone around when it is time for me to gas up the boat.

This is a very nice all around deck tool, works as advertised. My only complaint is that it will sink like a rock if dropped overboard. Other than that, nice utility tool. I have both this and the canvas tool, each shows some surface rust already as well. And they haven't touched salt water yet.

This is by far one of the most useful tools you can have on your boat! I purchased it for the deck key feature but I use it constantly .... I was even able to use it to re-seat two feet of rub rail that was pulled out of the track. The perfect gift for anyone who owns a boat! I am buying one for every one of my boating friends!

Good design, Well built, easy to stow in cockpit, colors make easy to find.Super when you need it for frozen shackles or tight fuel caps - which used to be a problem.I didn't receive any incentive for this - just happy to have a good tool.

Before I ordered the DeckMate 6 in 1 Boat Tool for my boat, I posted a simple question, "Does it float?" I received two responses, one said they did not know but it was a nice tool, and the other said yes. Based on the positive response I purchased the tool. Unfortunately, it does NOT float. When I placed it in a bucket of water, it sank to the bottom like a rock. For that reason, in my opinion, it has limited use on a boat. I already have a deck tool and bottle opener that I have attached floats to. In fairness to the manufacturer, there is no mention that their product floats, hence the reason for my question in the first place. That said, it is a sturdy, well constructed tool that looks like it will last forever, assuming you don't lose it over-board!

Awesome tool that can be used for things you never think about until you're stuck on the boat and need it. It's small enough to store anywhere on the boat and floats just in case you drop it. I highly recommend this great little tool.

I bougth this for a new sailboat owner, and I think this needs more explanation of what it can do. He was less than impressed. Do we really need a botte opener on board? I don't this tool will be of much use. If I could figure out how to return it, I would.
