THE SHED tackles vampire horror with campy horror feel
Without spoiling the film, THE SHED churns out an hour and a half of vampire horror that draws from the vein of FRIGHT NIGHT. Enjoyable in its use of special effects, blood/gore, and tension building, THE SHED sadly also falls victim to cliche jump scares and moments of dialogue that seem ineffective and help hurry the plot along in a manner that, to me, falls flat at times. The concept itself grows strong, the later half of the film being its best, and features characters of a small town that, honestly, I enjoyed. Would love to have seen this fleshed out a bit longer, maybe as a limited series or just a 2 hour film, where we can focus a bit more on the main trio's backstory, but without stalling or lagging any, the plot surely moves at a steady pace throughout the entirety. Enjoyable to say the least, just wish the potential of this film was executed a bit better. For modern-day vampire horror, I'd say this is an interesting installment to watch. Maybe a director's cut is on the way...?

HIGH QUALITY Indie Flick!
I have a habit of seeking out straight-to-video indie horror movies based on an impressive trailer or even cover/poster art and sometimes it's worth it, and others, not. THE SHED 100% pays off on this gamble. Of course, any movie, especially some independently made, will have its flaws and shortcomings, but, I found VERY little to gripe about with THE SHED. The cinematography is eye-catching, score is gripping, FX are practical & beautiful, and, short of one or two cheesy characters, acting is very much on par. Like another reviewer stated, this film makes me think of 'Fright Night' and the pacing is pretty similar. It's somewhat of a slow-burn in the sense that there isn't an over-saturation of "creature" action throughout, but it gives you enough to make you want to keep watching. The cast carries the movie well. The real shame here is that an outlet like Scream! Factory didn't pick this title up for distribution, because there are NO special features to be found on the disc. And this is definitely an indie film deserving of such treatment. However, it does come with a very cool reversible cover that is a little more "retro" and subtle than the one displayed. HIGHLY recommend this to any vampire fanatics or those who like indie horror.

I have been finding amazing little gems, here is one.
Stan and his best friend Dommer have put up with bullies their entire lives. All of that changes when Stan discovers he has a murderous vampire living in his shed. This is one really scary movie. I kid you not! I have nothing but praise for the star of this Indie movie Jay jay Warren, He is amazing and pretty good at this whole acting thing. Who would have thought that a movie about a vampire in a shed could or would be this good. I am not going to tell too much because I don't want to spoil anything but also look for....Frank Whalley and Timothy Bottoms. This is a great story and i recommend it entirely. Especially when Stan (Jay Jay) and Dommer have different ideas about what to do with this situation.

GIVES NEW MEANING TO THE TERM "TAKEN TO THE WOODSHED"
First let me say that this film was a pleasant surprise. It was able to successfully marry horror, drama, and a touch of dark humor all at the same time. Our story begins with a chance encounter between a werewolf and a lost nebesh type individual in a nearby woods near his home. This leaves the hapless victim in a semi-werewolf state because his attacker is suddenly dispatched by the rising sun before it can finish the job. Taking shelter under the shade of a nearby tree to protect himself from the sunlight the man soon finds safe haven in the outside tool shed that belongs to his neighbor. His presence is accidentally discovered by Stan the 20 year old grandson of the man whose shed it is and lives next door. From that point on we have the following scenario (NO SPOILERS HERE). The abusive and angry grandfather of the previously mentioned Stan (excellently played by relative newcomer Jay Jay Warren) insists upon going into the shed despite the protests of his grandson when he hears noise coming from the shed. What happens to said grandfather (a nearly unrecognizable Timothy Bottoms) I leave to the imagination. Not long afterward, Stan's best friend - Dommer (Cody Kostro) - finds out what's in the shed during a visit and has sinister plans for it. Stan wants to kill what's inside; Dommer has other ideas. Constantly harassed and bullied by a trio of classmates at school, Dommer believes that the shed is a "gift" for him to exact revenge on his aggressors. Their leader named Marble (well played by Chris Petrovski of Madam Secretary fame) also beats up on Stan. But when Marble shows up at Stan's home, he is stopped by a gun touting Dommer from beating up Stan with a pair of brass knuckles during a fight there. Dommer now intends to make use of the shed to punish Marble. What happens next is a conflict between applying deadly punishment, ethical behavior, and how to kill the monster without getting killed in the process. There are plenty of twists and turns along with enough genuine scary moments to satisfy those who like this genre. (I'm one of them.) Despite the supernatural elements and violence in this film, there is also a good deal of basic admirable human behavior present which elevates it above the norm. To say any more would be to say too much.

Donât let the trailer mislead you
Couldnât even make it through 10 minutes. The acting and dialogue is horrible. And not even in the fun campy B-movie way. First 3 minutes you see a vampire chasing someone through the woods in the dark. Then one poor cut shot later and itâs light out. The vampire costume looks like someone grabbed a mask out of their attic and decided last minute to go to a Halloween party. Donât listen to the raving reviews. They clearly work for the studio. Donât waste your money.I really need to re-iterate how god awful the acting and dialogue was. I would say a 4th grader wrote it but they probably would have done a better job... probably could have acted better too.
