Professional paint with a Student lable!
My GoTo paints. Superior quality that rivals any professional quality paint, including their own (Rembrandt)! Wonderful color selection in this set. I did purchase a few additional colors to augment, but they were not really necessary. Great mixing ability, you won't get mud unless you really try. Flow and transparency are great, and the pigment load (again) is closer to a professional grade paint than a student grade. Best value out there across the board!

Great paint - many are single pigment!
I searched long and hard before deciding to ask for this set of paints for Christmas. I’m so glad I did! These are high quality paints. I did a lot of research, and what’s important in any watercolor paint you buy is the Pigment Name. It’s listed on the back of the tube in tiny print. A single-pigment paint will mix better with your other colors and produce vibrant colors - not mud. And most of these paints are, indeed, single pigment. A search online will help you from there. The colors (with my personal exception of the Chinese White) all can work along side professional watercolor paints and hold their own when mixing with or glazing over pricier professional tubes paints. They are almost all rated lightfast (many student quality paints fade noticeably over time). I find the paint on paper to be transparent and quite beautiful. These are also larger tubes of paint, which makes the Amazon price even more appealing. Most artists I consulted told me while researching that you only need a small selection of paints in watercoloring as their transparent quality makes them ideal for mixing your own unlimited amount of colors. With a couple of videos you can learn how to use a color wheel for making your own shades that you like. And these paints do a good job on that. I copied this picture from a coloring book I bought off Amazon and then used graphite paper to trace the image onto my paper. Then I made my own purples using the paints found in this set (notice... it doesn’t come with a purple!) and colored it in. Even an old dog like me who has never used wstercolor paint before made this look very interesting.Lastly, this set is made by Talens, who are also the people who manufacture the highly-thought-of Rembrandt watercolor paints. So the quality of the product is there. These paints are popular in Europe as it is manufactured there, but it’s relatively unknown in the US.

Good for Beginner
I signed up for an online class and the instructor recommended these as good paints for the projects she was doing. I'm not 100% a fan of them, they are just "OK" they are not as rich and saturated as I prefer in watercolors. To me they are more muted. That being said, they are perfectly fine as a part of a watercolor collection. Who doesn't have way too many different types of watercolor? I have tons of them and I use all of them for different reasons.

Perfect!
I've used these paints for years and love them so much. Pigments are very strong and rich. A little goes a very long way. I guess my only complaint is that the caps can be difficult to unscrew and the ridges hurt - but art is pain, anyway. :/ I sometimes need to use a rag or rubber jar opener to get them off.

excellent watercolors, very good color and versatility
excellent watercolors, very good color and versatility: it allows to achieve very light and transparent or quite dense and opaque layers. My observation is on the lids of the color tubes, as the thread tends to collect the paste that dries and then prevents easy uncorking (the paint tubes can be twisted with the risk of breaking), or the closure is not completely airtight which can cause the color to dry.

Van Gogh- Best Affordable Watercolors
Van Gogh watercolour paints are one of the best affordable paints I have tried (and I have dried quite a many). They're the best for beginners or those on a tight budget. Though these paints are most often compared to Winsor and newton cotman and Grumbacher Academy these are far superior. They mix well and are vibrant. They're not chalky at all and layer quite well actually. Can't go wrong with Van Gogh colors, they are a tried and true brand.

Love these paints
I LOVE THE VAN GOGH PAINTS.Recently I was in a in a supply store, saw a paint set by another brand, purchased it. JUNK! pure junk, this other brand is. Contrast it to Van Gogh water color paint: consistency is excellent, doesn’t break down into separated liquid components from the paint tint. When they dry in the pallet they don’t cake upand they keep their nice-rich sheen when dry, lays down smooth on water color paper. I really like these.I do wish they had a Prussian blue and a true red. I mix colors to get what I want but easier to have ready made. Oh, if I were to make one complaint regarding the set, it would be that at times those tube tops are very difficult to reopen, even when you try to be careful to clean the tube tops before you close the cap.

Fantastic quality and great bargain!
Outstanding product for the beginner and more advanced students. Rich deep creamy colors go on smoothly and the larger 10ml size tubes. And crazy low price! Very pleased with this product! Highly recommend!
