Greco Disco: The Art and Design of Luke Edward Hall

If sketches of naked men is your thing...I gave this 2 stars because both the dust jacket and the actual fabric-covered hardback are nice, but they can't make up for what's inside... NOR for what's missing inside.I purchased this book primarily because I specifically needed a large pink book added to my coffee table books, so it fit the bill. What I didn't expect is that I would have to explain myself for the contents of the book each time a guest picked it up to peruse. See my photos to judge for yourself, but it's basically just an oversized sketchbook, the majority of sketches being scantily-clad men. There are precisely 4 women in this book, each one sketched into the overall sketches of a group of men. The rest of the content is a handful of the author's very short, single-page excerpts from his travel journal, outlining the mere aesthetics of a particular locale visited. There are also several pages of his own logo'd bags and plates, all adorned with... you guessed it, sketches of naked men. I bought this book hoping to find more interior design photos from Luke Edward Hall's portfolio, to expound upon the few colorful images I've admired online; much to my dismay, I've already seen every one of the few photos that are included. As a whole, whether accurate or not, the book portrays a vapid, mysonginistic sketch artist who is completely obsessed with himself and his name rather than an accomplished designer showcasing his craft.

I don't know why it took so long for me to purchase this (after looking at it online for months), but I am finally glad that I did. More than a book, it's a work of art. Period. Clever, witty, surprising, so impeccably done, that it seems more like a personal audience with Hall than simply reading a book.

I was looking for a cute coffee table book for my living room that wasn’t the Tom Ford one literally everyone has. This one caught my eye with the vibrant cover. Looks great on my table and the book is filled with gorgeous pictures. Very happy!

I've followed Luke Edward Hall for over a year on Instagram & fall more and more in love with his work. This book is absolutely exquisite and couldn't be happier with my purchase. I took the book jacket off but cannot bring myself to throw it away (I love the cloth spines). So I may frame it? Who knows!

Hands down the best design book I’ve ever bought. Unique just like Luke’s style. Lots of little interesting paper pieces attached inside. Creative and full of whimsy.
