It really fits well with our decorThe wood is "jelutong" which is a quick growing hardwood, generally from southeast asia. Most furniture made from this wood have problems as they use hardware designed for american hardwoods, however this piece makes use of threaded inserts and captive nuts that works well with this wood.PLEASE do not overtighten the bolts. I cranked down one of the bolts and pulled out the threaded insert. This was not due to any product flaw, but my enthusiasm to get it put together quickly.Printed instructions and well labeled pieces help the installation. The company backs this up with copies of the instructions online (we put them up on our smart tv) as well as installation and usage videos.

I was very please with how sturdy and fairly easy it was to put together. Kodiak website provides instructional video and illustration guide on their website. Please note that instructions can be found in the box with the arms. Futon was shipped in 4 boxes. All the pieces are labeled and color coded. The majority of the futon can be put together by one person. I recommend getting help when attaching the arms. The mattress is decent in comfort, could use memory foam topper for extended use. The mattress is made to be a little more bendable in the middle. I am hoping in time that it will be easier and more bendable as it took some work to get the futon in the couch position. Overall please with this purchase!

A bed from over night guests

First, watch the videos! Follow, step by step, the complete assembly, don't think you know better! If you do this, you will be thrilled with the completed piece. It is beautiful in the room, comfortable to both sit and lay on with a thick mattress. We replaced a queen size bed in my husband's study with this and he loves the look and comfort, if he wants to watch tv in there. Definately recommend!

This replaced an old, very broken recliner and a rocking chair in our living room. We wanted something that would provide for more seating and give guests a place to sleep other than the loveseat or floor. Pros: It looks fantastic in the room. The wood frame is beautiful and true to color. The assembly instructions are clear and the pieces are lettered and color-coded. Much more comfortable to sit or lay on than our old furniture. Cons: We ordered it with the cocoa mattress and its not brown as in the picture, really much more gray. One of the supports for the side tables is off-level and doesn't make contact with the underside of the table when extended. We haven't figured out the best way to correct it yet and that leaves the one side table with only one support when in use. (It should have two.)

We full time RV and have replaced the furniture in our RV. This piece was perfect because it had the storage underneath. I couldn’t rate the assembly as my husband and a friend out it together. What was really amazing was that when we received the futon and mattress the mattress was cut and their customer service was wonderful in getting me a new mattress out and in a timely manner! I would definitely purchase from them again!
