Dogs

After looking at the dust jacket photograph of that incredible Puli, I simply HAD to see the rest of the photos. (It should be noted that the hard cover of the book is NOT that same Puli photo...) Many of the photographs on the inside are equally amazing; the Great Dane with the Chihuahua, the fabulous blonde Afghan Hound, the white Poodle, the Bloodhound, the Neopolitan Mastiff, the two Doberman Pinschers, and the black Puli are incredibly beautiful, and such an intimate portrayal of these magnificent animals.However, as another reviewer noted, I was terribly disappointed by the pictures that seem to be taken from underneath the dog after it had been placed on glass table. It's a photographic gimmick that didn't work for me at all. I was altogether let down by the photos of the dachshund, and can hardly believe that this brilliant photographer was obliged to resort to an underbelly shot. Those photos didn't capture the essence of the tenacious, persistent, intelligent, loyal, funny and fun-loving dachshund at all. (He employed this same technique with the Labradoodle.) Although there were many photos of some dogs, it seemed to me that the inclusion of some of the more commonplace breeds would make the book more enjoyable, as well. For instance, there are no pictures of Irish Setters, a very old breed, and regarded by many to be the most beautiful dogs in the world.In any event, this book is an magnificent view into the world of dogs. Tim Flach's photography is incredible, and captures the beautiful, comical, serious, endearing quality of his subjects. The text is amazing, too, and discusses the evolution of dogs, the importance of their relationship with humans, as well as current breeding practices.Very enjoyable, and beautiful, book for every dog lover. Highly recommended!

Great book and nice size for coffee table.

The series of animal photography books by Tim Flach is a magnificent series of animal books photography and a necessary product in every library of animal lovers.The photographs are unique and made in the most professional form possible.The footage makes you think about how the photo shoot was performed. Were they done in studio photos? Because it looks like these are the conditions of photography. But how did they bring these animals to the studio...?The book's printing is made in the highest quality, on amazing paper.I am most pleased with the acquisition and wholeheartedly recommend this series of animal books photography

The pictures are so fun to look through, and this book becomes a talking point for guests.

How can you look at the cover photograph and not want to dive into this book? I simply HAD to see the rest of the pictures. Many of the photographs on the inside are equally amazing; the Great Dane and Puppy, the gray Afghan Hound, the Spaniel flushing out the pheasants, and the black Poodle to name a few. On the other hand, I was disappointed by the pictures that seem to be taken from underneath the dog after it had been placed on glass table. It's a clever idea that didn't really work for me. I was like a kid at Christmas anticipating the shots of the noble wiener dog and was completely let down by the underbelly view. That said, the book was worth every penny. Tim Flach's photography is incredible, and I suppose he is a victim of his success in that you start to hold each picture to such high standards. It was very humbling to recall my own disasterous attempts at taking pictures of my two dogs!

I love dogs so this book made sense to get it. It’s a wonderful addition to my library!

This large coffee table book is amazing with beautiful photos of dogs. A must have for dog lovers. Great gift, presents well as a gift. I keep it open & turn page all the time. My husband enjoys it too.
