WOW ! The author Mayumi Itoh did an excellent job providing an actual depiction of this most famous historical true story of a dedicated, devoted dog man's best friend. Hachi and Professor Ueno Hidesaburo are now reunited in heaven. Hachi was is and always will be the most famous dog in Japan. !!!What is so heartwarming is Hachi would put a stop a dog fight by stopping in. Hachi was a good size dog and other dogs would back off. Hachi stood for loyalty, devotion and love for his master as he waited almost 10 years at the train station not knowing he best friend wasn't coming back.I watched the movie Hachi: A Dog's Tale with Richard Gere. I cried of course. I am so happy the Akita dogs were treated well unfortunately the real Hachi endured abuse but he took it well. I would recommend getting this book and cherish your own 4 legged friend whether it is a dog or cat and yes horses too ! I appreciate all animals.

If God had a dog, it would be Hachiko, loving, compassionate, never angry or retaliates, devoted. Hachiko brought two warring countries, USA and Japan together through his love. Cry, you bet, but I think Hachiko was afraid of thunder due to the noisy train ride as a pup. Wish Yae had kept him. Shocked they didn't have heartworm protection; however, Dr. Ueno gave him a dewormer twice a week. I have read this book twice and find more love from him each time. He was magnificent and so glad he stayed at the Station. His heart was totally broken and he didn't care about anything after Dr. Ueno died, but Hachiko hoped every second of his life that he would see his face AND HE FINALLY DID. Bless this author.

For anyone interested in Hachiko,this is afantastic read.Not to be confused with the Americanmovie Hachi.I read the original book and this updated/expanded edition is far superior.I have read most available books on Hachiko and this is the best.

This really delves into the true story based on facts. A lot of research and detective work went into this to find the truth for something that happened 90 years ago. Amazing story. A very well written and easy to read book. Sad but uplifting also.

Libro muy interesante que recopila muchísima información sobre Hachiko, la verdad es que aunque solo se pueda leer en inglés se entiende perfectamente, a mi me está gustando mucho.

Hachiko était un chien extraordinaire. Pour décrire Hachiko, c'est très facile: Hachiko était courageux, gentil, tendre avec les gens, et extrêmement fidéle. Chaques jours, Hachiko avait pris l'habitude, d'accompagner son maître Hidesaburo Ueno, jusqu'à la gare de shibuya. Hidesuburo Ueno prenait ensuite son train, pour se rendre sur son lieu de travail . Quand à Hachiko, il faisait le chemin inverse et retourné à sa maison. Hachiko était toujours très impatient de revoir son maître, alors, quand arrivé la fin de journée, ,Hachiko retourné devant la gare de shibuya, pour l'attendre. C'était devenue entre eux ,un petit et jolie rituelle. Jusqu'au jour ,ou son fabuleux maître, décéda malheureusement brutalement. Son Maître Hidesaburo Ueno ,trouva la mort le 21 Mai 1925 sur son lieu de travail. Il enseignait ce jours la ,auprès de ses élèves et subira une hémorragie intra-cérébrale. Hachiko ne le reverra malheureusement plus jamais. Chaques jours , Hachiko se rendis devant la gare de shibuya à l'attendre, en éspèrant le revoir, et ceux, jusqu'à la fin de sa vie. Hachiko fut un exemple de fidélité, d'amour et de courage . En Avril 1934, une statue en bronze à la gare de shibuya, est installé pour rendre Hommage à Hachiko. Hachiko était d'ailleurs présent, lors de l'inauguration de sa statue. Cette statue en l'Honneur de Hachiko était pleinement mérité. Hachiko était devenue une sorte de "légende vivante" pour avoir montrer tout au long de sa vie , une incroyable et immense fidélité à l'égard de son maître. Malheureusement cette statue fut fondue lors de la pénurie de métaux durant la seconde guerre mondiale, mais heureusement ,une nouvelle statue représentant Hachiko, fut reconstruite et inauguré en Aout 1948 à la gare de shibuya. Une cérémonie pour rendre hommage à Hachiko, est également organisé tout les ans, aux mois d'Avril. En 2004 une statue de bronze est également installé ,à la gare d'Odate dans la prefecture d'Akita, ville natale de Hachiko. En 2015 ,pour rendre Hommage à Hachiko et à son maître Hidesaburo Ueno, une statue les représentant tout les deux ,fut installé à l'université d'agriculture et de technologie de Tokyo. Hachiko et Hidesaburo Ueno y sont réunis. Quel bel Hommage pour ses deux êtres extraordinaires. Hachiko était un chien courageux, d'une grande gentillesse et d'une exceptionnel fidélité, un vrai amour . Hachiko la prouvé chaques jours, en attendant son maître devant cette gare, espérant le voir revenir. Hachiko n'a pas compris ce qu'il s'est passé . Un jour il était avec son fabuleux maître , puis le jours d'après, plus rien, Hachiko ne le reverra malheureusement plus. Hidesaburo Ueno mourra subitement, alors qu'il se trouvait sur son lieu de travail. C'est vraiment triste . Hachiko l'a alors attendu devant la gare , chaques secondes , minutes, heures et années de sa vie, jusqu'à son dernier souffle. Hachiko est un exemple d'amour et de courage. Hachiko est décédé le 8 mars 1935 dans une allée, aux environs du pont inari de la rivière de shibuya, des suites d'une filariose ou d'un cancer des poumons et du coeur. Hachiko et son maître Hidesaburo Ueno, resteront pour toujours dans nos pensées . On ne les oubliera jamais et j'en suis convaincu , Hachiko a depuis retrouvé son fabuleux maître, et ils ont du rattraper toutes ses années, ou ils ont étaient brutalement et injustement séparé. Lorsque Hachiko mourru , sa peau fut empaillé et fut conservé aux musé National de la Nature et des Science de tokyo, et les restes de son corps, sont entérré aux cimetière d'Aoyama, à côté de de la tombe de son maître Hidesaburo Ueno. ils se sont enfin retrouvé .
