------
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai"" is not a film with a message. It is pure
escapist cinema at its best.
All of the actors are in top form here. Kajol is simply brilliant
as the gawky, outspoken tomboy who transforms herself into the
demure, sexy siren. Shahrukh's performance is heartbreakingly
honest at times, and at times he hams his way through scenes, but
isn't that why we love him? It must be noted, however, that the
Rukhster and Kajol define chemistry in each movie. and this movie
is just another example. Rani Mukherjee has the task of playing
the most intelligent, attractive, and confident of the
characters, and she does it with the perfection of a pro. All of
the supporting cast - including Farida Jalal, Anupam Kher, Himani
Shivpuri, Archana Puransingh and Johnny Lever contribute to the
film with brief but strong performances. --www.platform47.com
Ah, guilty pleasuresfilmmaker Karan Johar is the master of them.
Kkhh, as it came to be called, was the first of several Johar
films.
The film reunited popular onscreen couple Shahrukh Khan and
Kajol, who had created a sensation with their previous pairing in
'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' (1995) and later co-starred in two
more of Johars films, 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' (2001) and 'My
Name Is Khan' (2010). Kajol's cousin, Rani Mukerjiwho was
somewhat new to the industry at the time and later became a big
star, often appearing site Shahrukh Khanhad a supporting role
in Kkhh, along with heavyweight Salman Khan. Johar's directorial
debut is the only film he's helmed that's set entirely in India.
The characters are searingly memorable, and Johars signature
style is set right from the beginning with a film that swept the
major awards and became a cult classic. --www.platform47.com
